Samsung Confirms Launch of Galaxy S21 Series, Unpacked Event 2021 Scheduled for January 14

Reports revealed that the new Galaxy S21 smartphones would come with improved performance, upgraded cameras, and better designs.

Samsung Electronics Co Ltd (KRX: 005930) has officially announced that its new Samsung Galaxy S21 series will launch on the 14th of January. Along with the three new S21 phones, reports revealed that Samsung is also launching Galaxy Buds Pro and SmartTag Bluetooth tracker.

Before Samsung’s official announcement on Galaxy 21 launch, Reuters had revealed that the electronics company was planning to release the new phones earlier than scheduled. Citing three reliable sources, Reuters said that Samsung is reviewing the launch date in order to take market share from Huawei.

Notably, Huawei Technology Co LTD is a prominent rival to Samsung and once competed with Samsung to take the top position in the smartphone space. However, Huawei has been struggling with restrictions by the US government. The imposed restrictions have been affecting the distribution of its chips which are used in smartphones and telecom products.

Samsung Galaxy 21 Series

Now, Samsung is hastening up the launch of its new Galaxy S21 products amid Huawei’s struggles with imposed restrictions by the US. The S21 Series includes Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21 Plus, and Galaxy S21 Ultra.

Also, Samsung has sent out invitations to a new Galaxy Unpacked event. The tagline reads: “Welcome to the Everyday Epic.” The virtual event would commence at 10 AM ET / 7 AM PT.

Already, details on the new Samsung Galaxy S21 Series have been leaked and severally reported. Reports revealed that the new smartphones would come with improved performance, upgraded cameras, and better designs.

report by 91mobiles highlighted the price details of the S21 Series. The report revealed that Samsung Galaxy S21 128GB would be available at the price of EUR 849. In addition, Samsung Galaxy S21 plus 128 GB would be offered at EUR 1,049, while the 256GB capacity would be priced at EUR 1,099. Also, Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 128GB would be available for EUR 1,399.

In the report, 91mobiles noted that information on the prices was provided by Ishan Agarwal, who is known for leaking genuine details. 91 mobiles also said in a separate report that the Samsung Galaxy Smart Tag would come in two colors and be priced at EUR 15. The Smart Tag is similar to Tile trackers to track objects such as keys and remotes using an app.

Furthermore, more reports highlighted specifics on the anticipated phones. The standard model of the Samsung Galaxy S21 is expected to have a 6.2 inches screen size. The smartphone will also come with a punch-hole front-facing camera.

Additionally, Samsung Galaxy S21 and S21 Plus rear cameras will be coming with three lenses. The three lenses are rumored to be 12MP main, 12MP ultra-wide, and 64MP telephoto. On the other hand, Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra is leaked to have a more advanced 108MP rear camera. Also, the S21 Ultra may come with an S pen.
