Also at the Bitcoin 2022 conference, Thiel referred to Buffett as “the sociopath grandpa of Omaha.” He said Buffett has probably been the most sincere Bitcoin critic.

Peter Thiel is one of the speakers at the 2022 edition of the Bitcoin conference, and he has called out certain Bitcoin “enemies.” During the conference in Miami, venture capitalist Peter Thiel tagged Berkshire Hathaway CEO Warren Buffett, BlackRock CEO Larry Fink, and JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon as Bitcoin “enemies.” In his opinion, the trio is responsible for holding back the value of Bitcoin, not letting the crypto reach $100,000. When BTC grew more than $60,000 in October, Thiel noted that it was an “extremely hopeful sign.” However, the crypto giant has dropped since it recorded an ATH of $69,044 on the 10th of November. At press time, Bitcoin is trading at $43,765.94 on CoinMarketCap.

Despite Bitcoin’s recent performance, Galaxy Digital CEO Mike Novogratz said the crypto is still positioned for a spike in this current year.

Peter Thiel Speaks at Bitcoin 2022 Conference

Also at the Bitcoin 2022 conference, Thiel referred to Buffett as “the sociopath grandpa of Omaha.” He said Buffett has probably been the most sincere Bitcoin critic.

“And of course, there’s always a sense [that] if you’re a money manager, you want to pretend that it’s complicated to invest. And if all you have to do is buy Bitcoin, that’s ridiculous. All these people are out of business. There’s a version that’s also with gold. They never like gold either, because if all you had to do is own gold, that’s something everybody can do,” said he.

Thiel said the “enemies” decision not to allocate to Bitcoin is a deeply political choice, and “we need to be pushing back against them.”

According to Thiel, the American financiers’ focus on ESG investing harms Bitcoin. Before now, rumors had it that BlackRock influenced Tesla’s decision to stop accepting Bitcoin payments. The reason is that Bitcoin mining sparks climate concerns.

Speaking further, Thiel mentioned that being only pro-blockchain equals anti-Bitcoin positioning. It is not surprising that many do not support Bitcoin despite its popularity. Generally, there are a lot of hacking, phishing, and scams associated with cryptocurrency. At the same time, it has caused political anarchism and financial volatility.

The Annual Bitcoin Conference

The Bitcoin conference is an annual conference that holds in Miami. Last year, the event organizers said more than 50,000 attendees would grace the conference. The gathering is the largest gathering of crypto enthusiasts. Many prominent names like Twitter’s Jack Dorsey and MicroStrategy’s CEO Michael Saylor are among attendees who have been to the annual conference.

Likewise, the Bitcoin 2022 conference has announced a number of notable speakers. In addition to Thiel, others are Michael Saylor, Lightning Labs co-founder Olaoluwa Osuntokun, and Serena Williams. The official website says:

“Bitcoin 2022 is a four-day pilgrimage for those seeking greater freedom and individual sovereignty. See you in Miami in the world’s largest gatherings of bitcoiners.”
