The Apple Watch Series 6 is now available for pre-order with shipments starting on Friday, September 18.

After months of prototype speculation, Apple Inc (NASDAQ: AAPL) finally released the Apple Watch Series 6 and a new affordable model without an iPhone attached to it. Ostensibly, most prior predictions about the expected specifications of the gadgets were true. However, the company detailed them for customers to choose accordingly.

The company is seeking to liberate the Apple Watch from the iPhone perhaps to increase its customer base and as a result, raise the revenue collection avenues.

As of the time of publication, Apple Watch is the biggest product in Apple’s wearables and accessories division, whereby the company reported revenue of $24.5 billion in 2019.

With less than a decade in the market, the huge reception of the smartwatch can be largely attributed to the benefits tied with the product. Apple Watch incorporates fitness tracking and health-oriented capabilities that most people are willing to pay for.

Previously, Apple Watch primarily operated in conjunction with the user’s iPhone for functions such as configuring the watch, calling and texting, and syncing data with iPhone apps. However, with the new Apple Watch Series 6, there is more than that, especially for the family set up.

To understand where Apple is projecting its products in the near future, connecting the company’s history and its current mission would greatly assist us.

By now it is clear that Apple introduces new products to the market by pegging them to existing and successful products.

“Before the iPhone, Apple used lower-cost iPods to get people accustomed to Apple hardware and software, then, once they were a customer, would proceed to sell them Mac laptops and other more expensive devices,” CNBC noted.

Now being a free and independent product that can be sold to customers without an iPhone, the company is expecting to see an increase in sales.

Users of the new watch can now enjoy Apple’s new S6 chipset that is dubbed the fastest in its class.

The new watch series comes equipped with a U1 chip. The chip has Ultra Wideband antennas that enable short-range wireless location, hence allowing the user to use the Watch Series 6 as a digital key for your car.

The Apple Watch Series 6 is now available for pre-order with shipments starting on Friday, September 18. According to the company, the aluminum GPS-only model starts at $399 for the 40mm size and $429 for the 44mm, while the GPS+Cellular version costs $499 and $529, respectively.

With a new affordable Apple Watch SE, the sale of the Apple watches is expected to experience a sharp uptick in the near future.

Parents can now fully control their kids to manage their time appropriately using the new generation of Apple Watches.
