Blockchain gaming project CryptantCrab has gone live on Arbitrum as it seek to harness the L2’s cheap fees and smart contract support model.

Before now, CryptantCrab reigned as one of the top 10 Web3 games in the ecosystem. As of 2019 when CryptantCrab’s development took place on the Ethereum mainnet, it could boast a transaction volume of 300 Ethereum (ETH) with its players winning more than 32 ETH as rewards in tournaments.

CryptantCrab Introduce Play-To-Own and Play-And-Earn Campaigns

Upon going live on Arbitrum, the Web3 project has embracedthe Play-To-Own initiative where CryptantCrab gives back to its community and the broader Web3 ecosystem. The Play-To-Own campaign caters to both prospective players and returning players, affording them the opportunity to free-mint crabs into CryptantCrab Prime.

While the prospective players can gain entry through the Web2 Mercenary Crabs, the returning players gets to secure more resources for nurturing their Crab Army for Mutation or Xenograft. A total of 1,000 CryptantCrab Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) are up for grabs, with each player entitled to free-mint only two at most.

There is also the Play-And-Earn vision. This means it has brought its players the opportunity to earn more rewards while accessing affordable gas fees. Play-And-Earn shares a few similarities with the Play-To-Own campaign. Here, both new and returning players can participate in the Battle Arena with their CryptantCrabs and Mercenary Crabs.

The goal is to earn battle prizes that range from randomized relics to $CRAB tokens. Meanwhile, an added feature dubbed Element Enchanter allows $CRAB holders to indirectly participate in the Battle Arena and win more tokens without possessing any CryptantCrabs.

CryptantCrab Pivots to Arbitrum for Cheaper Fees

Noteworthy, CryptantCrab finds its root with popular traditional Betta Fish fights, a hobby that originates from Southeast Asia. Each fighting fish is adorned with a unique combination of colors, patterns, and fins.

The decision to utilize Arbitrum came from understanding the uniqueness of CryptantCrab’s need at the time. To put this in perspective, several interactions within the CryptantCrab ecosystem require wallet interactions as well as the expenditure of native tokens for gas fees. The increased use of the Ethereum mainnet by top projects like CryptoKitties and Axie Infinity, led to a rise in gas fee on the network.

Unfortunately, the GameFi project and its players could hardly keep up with this huge fees. This necessitated the search for a Layer-2 network which could revitalize CryptantCrab. Arbitrum’s utilization by other GameFi projects appealed to CryptantCrab especially, with its affordable gas fees and robust support for Web3 development and smart contracts.

On the flip side, Arbitrum has faced some challenging times recently with some experts tagging it as the least performing L2. In July, the network recorded weak price performance and this raised concern amongst developers considering Arbitrum’s stellar reputation amongst other L2s. With this new support from CryptantCrab, the Ethereum L2 solutuon may regain its position in the market.
