The Ton blockchain has grown to a top-tier Web3 ecosystem with over $123 million in TVL and more than $20 billion in market cap.

In a bid to enable the mass adoption of the Toncoin (TON) blockchain and its decentralized applications (Dapps), Oyster Labs has finally introduced the Universal Basic Smartphone (UBS). Almost similar to the Saga mobile on the Solana network, the UBS device will be a major gateway for the mass adoption of Ton-based Web3 projects.

Notably, the UBS device will give the owners all the power over their data amid the mainstream adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) focused crypto projects. Additionally, the UBS mobile will offer Web3 cashback, data dividends, and Web3 rewards to all users.

Powered by the Ton blockchain, the UBS mobile intends to onboard millions of Telegram users in the long haul.

Key Features of the Universal Basic Smartphone (UBS)

The Universal Basic Smartphone (UBS) is a huge move for the Ton ecosystem as it is affordable compared to most of the similar products available in the market. According to the company, the Universal Basic Smartphone (UBS) is available for preorders at $99 per unit. In comparison, Solana’s Saga mobile starts for as much as $450 per unit.

For every UBS purchase, Oyster Labs will provide a unique Genesis NFT and access to cashback through the OysterEarn app. The UBS mobile comes with a universal Decentralized application (DApp) store, which provides users with more than 600 web3 applications based on the Ton ecosystem.

As for the technical specifications, the UBS mobile phone comes in a cyber silver color. The UBS has a battery capacity of 4060 mah lithium-ion battery that uses a type-c input charger. The UBS smartphone uses 4G network connectivity, with 6GB RAM and 128 GB storage.

The USB smartphone is built on the Android 10 OS, with security features including face recognition and a protection film.

Market Impact

Following the launch of the UBS smartphone, TON price spiked around 6.9 percent to trade at about $5.79 on Monday during the London session. The mid-cap altcoin has a fully diluted valuation of about $30 billion and an average daily trading volume of around $226 million.

Having raised over $1.7 billion from different investors, the Ton ecosystem has grown into a vibrant web3 ecosystem. Some of the top web3 projects include Tonstakers, Bemo, and Ston.fi DEX, among others.

The launch of the UBS smartphone will play a crucial role in the mass adoption of the Ton ecosystem amid the heightened competition in the layer one industry.
