Samsung pitches straight-up competition with Apple via its new Galaxy Tab S8 series. It also releases three models of the Galaxy S22 smartphones featuring a three-camera architecture.
In a bid to take on Apple products, tech-giant Samsung announced a slew of smartphones and tablets in its Galaxy series on Wednesday, Feb 9.
Samsung Galaxy’s S22 lineup features three new models: the S22, S22+ and the top-of-the-line S22 Ultra. The Samsung Galaxy S22 and the S22+ come with a price tag of $800 and $1000 respectively. However, the higher-end Galaxy S22 Ultra and the most advanced model comes at $1,200.
Each of these three handsets comes with a completely new design, new components, putting them ahead of 2021’s leading Android smartphones. The Galaxy S22 is the smallest of the pack with a 6.1-inch display. On the other hand, the Galaxy S22+ comes with a 6.6-inch screen. While the S22 Ultra has the biggest screen sporting a 6.8-inch display. The largest-sized S22 Ultra also comes with a cool S-Pen built-in.
Samsung said that all of these three handsets will support the next-generation WiFi 6.0. Besides, the S22 and S22+ Ultra also support the ultrafast 5G networks. The Samsung Galaxy S22 lineup comes in four color options white, pink, black, and green.
Furthermore, the built quality looks premium as each of the handsets features an aluminum frame along with chemically enhanced glass on the front and the back. Coming to camera, the Galaxy S22 and the S22+ has a lens camera architecture that includes a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera, a 50-megapixel main lens and a 10 MP telephoto sensor.
On the other hand, the S22 Ultra boasts a 108 MP primary camera and two 10 MP telephoto lenses for advanced zooming. Samsung also stated that these handsets come with artificial intelligence features for improved photography.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 Tablets
Along with this lineup of smartphones, Samsung also unveiled three new Galaxy S8 tablets. This includes the Galaxy Tab S8, S8+ and S8 Ultra.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S8, and S8+ come with 11-inch and 12.4-inch screens respectively. However, the Galaxy S8 Ultra is a monster machine with a screen size of 14.6-inch. Samsung said that despite being this huge, the table will weigh half that of a similar-sized laptop.
For the most expensive model, the company has put a major focus on video recording capabilities. The Galaxy S8 Ultra comes with dual-lens, a 12 MP front camera, and a 120-degree field of view. Samsung also noted that the tablet’s microphone will pick up sound from three different directions. Samsung said that it will help in reducing unwanted background noise on video calls.
Besides, the Samsung Galaxy tablets come with some features for productivity and multitasking. This allows users to sync up notes and share files between different devices. With this added functionality, Samsung hopes that its new tablet range will help Apple users move away from the iPad models.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 and S8+ come at retail price of $700 and $900 respectively. Furthermore, the S8 Ultra comes at a retail price of $1,100.
