The MMORPG project SIDUS Heroes presented the latest Metaverse gaming trends at the virtual event Cryptopia 2022. The event was organized by Cryptodatabase.app & Inside Insight.
SIDUS Heroes is a multiplayer, open world, futuristic metaverse inhabited by Heroes in the form of NFTs. Players begin their journey by purchasing a Genesis Hero or Sidus Academy NFT Card, which transforms into a character for them to use in games.
Summarizing his impressions after his appearance on Cryptopia 2022, SIDUS Heroes CEO Dan Khomenko shared his thoughts on the state of the industry and gamers’ feelings on crypto-based gaming. He said:
“Gamers as a group are not yet fond of crypto, be it NFTs or trading/investment. Crypto gamers, however, have a positive sentiment toward crypto. Cryptopia 2022 was a great opportunity to address pressing concerns in Web3 and Metaverse gaming from the perspective of a traditional, non-crypto gamer to escape the persistent echo chamber. Traditional gamers who are still not getting involved with Web3 games cite a lack of knowledge about the technology as one of the main reasons, and Cryptopia 2022 was a great opportunity to bridge that gap.”
Cryptopia 2022 is a three-part virtual event focused on the three most important elements of crypto as of 2022. Part one was dedicated to non-fungible tokens and was led by both NFT thought leaders and investors. Part two was dedicated to decentralized finance and led by both DeFi projects founders and investors. Part three was dedicated to the Metaverse, and led by gamers, investors, and select metaverse projects.
In 2021, blockchain games grew from being a niche subset of the gaming industry to a segment many are taking interest in. Web3 gaming has had tremendous growth since the beginning of 2022. In Q3, Web3 gaming activity accounted for almost half of all blockchain activity across 50 networks, with 912,000 daily unique active wallets (UAW) interacting with smart contracts in September 2022 alone. In the first six months of 2022, the blockchain gaming industry received investments totaling a whopping $5 billion, and $750 million in investment since August 2022, according to DappRadar report.
