While the Bored Ape Yacht collection (BAYC) has 10,000 NFT in the market, it still lacks boating opportunities. To address this, one Bored Ape NFT holder is launching a decentralized yachting club.

Yuga Labs, the company behind the very popular Bored Apes Yacht Collection (BAYC), is reportedly launching its new NFT collection project by the end of the year.

BAYC Parent to Launch New NFT Collection

Dubbed Mecha Apes, Yuga Labs aims to raise $50 million and 100,000 metaverse land pieces with this NFT collection. Protos was the first to feature this story, however, there are not many details regarding Mecha Apes for now.

The publication noted that they have spotted “Mecha Piece” as one of the artifacts in Otherdeeds. Yuga Labs had sold a 100,000-piece “Otherdeeds for Otherside” NFT collection raking a total of $600 million. It describes Otherdeeds as a place “where players will be able to interact simultaneously in a single place, connect with natural voice chat (even in crowds of thousands), experience rich, immersive gameplay supported by AI and physics, and move between metaverses”.

Yuga Labs has been more or less secretive about its NFT launches. However, earlier this year, it revealed that it intends to build a media empire on Web 3.0 which includes games and arts based in the Metaverse. Besides, it also intends to create a blockchain of its own to host its native cryptocurrency ApeCoin.

Yuga Labs has been dominating the NFT market for a while. It has also purchased the rights to some of the very popular collections such as Meebits and CryptoPunks.

BAYC’s Decentralized Yachting Club

While the Bored Ape Yacht collection (BAYC) has 10,000 NFT in the market, it still lacks boating opportunities. To address this, one Bored Ape NFT holder is launching a decentralized yachting club.

The Bored Yachts Club will have an NFT-gated yachting platform that allows members to rent real vessels all across the world. The proceeds of the same shall be going to charity. This initiative will start with “Lady Amanda” which is the single yacht of club creator Jad Comair. The larger goal is to bring more yacht owners and allow them to direct the funds to causes of their choice.

Comair is the founder and CEO of the French investment firm Melanion Capital, which launched its Bitcoin-themed ETF last year. However, being an art collector himself, Comair gravitated towards NFTs and found an affinity for the BAYC NFT collection. The idea of a decentralized platform for yacht rentals predates his Ape ownership, Comair told Decrypt. Note that there’s no official connection between Yuga Labs and Bored Ape Yacht Club.
