Key Notes

  • Alderoty sees Ripple as a trusted crypto solution provider.
  • He stresses the need for regulatory clarity in the US.
  • Ripple’s leadership hopes pro-crypto appointments will remove legal burdens.

Ripple lawyer Stuart Alderoty stated in a video posted on X that the crypto company could be the most trusted source for enterprise crypto solutions. Alderoty, also Ripple’s Chief Legal Officer, is confident that improved regulatory clarity could help Ripple establish itself in the US market.

Alderoty’s optimism about the future of XRP XRP $2.54 24h volatility: 4.4% Market cap: $145.98 B Vol. 24h: $8.46 B is rooted in Trump’s promise that his administration will be crypto-friendly. He believes the crypto industry has been affected by regulations imposed by the current administration. Thus, with the administration ending, there could be a breath of fresh air in the industry. He said:

“When this regulatory cloud is lifted, and we get some policy clarity in the US, we will then be the most trusted source for enterprise support for crypto solutions in the US.”

SEC Disputes Continue to Hinder XRP’s Growth

Ripple has faced legal issues with the SEC since 2020 over claims of selling unregistered securities. In July 2023, a court ruled that XRP sales were not securities, but Ripple was still fined $125 million for violations in institutional sales.

The SEC, however, was not satisfied with the court decision and came back in October 2024 seeking further review of the XRP classification, thereby keeping the regulatory uncertainty alive. Ripple also filed a cross-appeal, about which Alderoty stated that the appeal is to ensure nothing is left on the table and all matters are cleared.

Despite being one of the major players in the crypto industry, Ripple’s growth has been hindered by its legal issues. XRP recently climbed to become the third-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization; however, it maintained this position only briefly as its price depreciated and was overtaken by Tether USDT.

Optimism Grows with Pro-Crypto Appointments

Ripple executives are optimistic about a change in US crypto policy. Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse commended the choice of Paul Atkins as the next SEC chairman, saying he will bring sanity to the agency. Brad sees the appointment as a potential turning point toward ending restrictive crypto regulations.

Alderoty backed Brad’s words, stating that the trio of Paul Atkins, Hester Peirce, and Mark Uyeda, as key figures at the SEC, will bring more than ‘common sense’ back to the agency and will also protect investors in the industry.

Additionally, David Sacks, appointed by the newly elected president, Donald Trump, as the artificial intelligence and crypto czar, received praise from both Garlinghouse and Alderoty. Garlinghouse expressed confidence that Sacks would champion Trump’s plans for crypto and AI innovation.

Alderoty echoed this sentiment, stating that Sacks’ pro-business and innovative stance could help establish clear and supportive cryptocurrency regulations in the US.

The appointment of pro-crypto individuals to lead the SEC could turn Alderoty’s optimism into reality. Clearer regulations could remove the legal burden that XRP has faced over the years and set the coin’s price on a path to greater heights.
