Tesla Inc (NASDAQ: TSLA) is rolling out a limited-edition Cyberwhistle collectible inspired by its futuristic Cybertruck series. According to Tesla, Cyberwhistle will be available for buying using Dogecoin (DOGE) only, it is priced at as much as 1,000 DOGE (around $60).

Tesla CEO Elon Musk shared the news on his Twitter:

As the Tesla product catalog states, Cyberwhistle is a premium collectible made from medical-grade stainless steel with a polished finish. The whistle includes an integrated attachment feature for added versatility. By now, the sales are final. Deliveries will begin in 4 to 6 weeks.

Previously, Tesla was selling other products for purchase with DOGE. For example, in January, a Giga Texas Belt Buckle was selling for 813 DOGE or roughly $154 at that time. You could also pick up the Cyberwhistle for 300 DOGE ($58) and the Cyberquad for Kids for 12,020 DOGE or $2,320.

Elon Musk’s Support for DOGE

Elon Musk has been an advocate for the DOGE coin for a long time, though the currency itself was initially just a joke. Notably, he even doubled down on his support of DOGE following a $258 billion lawsuit filed by Dogecoin investor Keith Johnson who accused Musk of running a Dogecoin pyramid scheme and heavily promoting the meme coin. Recently, the lawsuit was expanded. As we have reported, the amended complaint stated that Musk, along with Tesla, SpaceX, Boring and others intentionally drove up the price of Dogecoin more than 36,000% over two years and then let it crash.

The coin itself is reacting to any statements of Elon Musk about it. DOGE price has rocketed partially because of the billionaire’s interest in it. Over the last 18 months, Dogecoin has rocketed up the crypto rankings. Now, it is trading at $0.06.

Last year, Tesla accepted Bitcoin (BTC) as payment for its cars for a couple of months, but the initiative was halted, the company explained its decision by Bitcoin’s environmental impact. At the beginning of this year, Tesla was heavily investing in the top digital currency, buying a staggering amount worth $1.5 billion. At the time of its purchase, Tesla identified BTC and other cryptos as very important strategic investments. However, in its Q2 2022 earnings report, the vehicle producer revealed that it sold $936 million worth of Bitcoin, which represented a massive 75% reduction of the company’s BTC portfolio.

Instead, Tesla is supporting Dogecoin. Besides, Musk believes that “Dogecoin is better than Bitcoin for payments,” therefore, Tesla’s selected products are available for purchase with DOGE only.

By the way, another Musk’s venture SpaceX also announced accepting Dogecoin as payment for merchandise in May.
