Twitter Employees Can Keep Working from Home ‘Forever’, TWTR Stock Up 0.5% in Pre-market

As Twitter has explained, its employees can work from home “forever” as remote working has proved to be efficient. Therefore, it’s up to the staff to decide how they will work after the pandemic ends.

Coronavirus pandemic made many businesses allow their employees to work from home. You can read about this here. Social networking company Twitter Inc (NYSE: TWTR) has adopted remote working as well. Recently, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey said that employees can keep working from home “forever”, even after the pandemic is over.

Meanwhile, TWTR stock is now at $29.30, 0.51% up. However, yesterday Twitter stock was falling 1.82%, it was trading at $29.15.

Work from Home for Twitter Employees

Twitter’s vice president of people Jennifer Christie wrote in a blog post:

“If our employees are in a role and situation that enables them to work from home and they want to continue to do so forever, we will make that happen. If not, our offices will be their warm and welcoming selves, with some additional precautions, when we feel it’s safe to return.”

She added:

“People who were reticent to work remotely will find that they really thrive that way. Managers who didn’t think they could manage teams that were remote will have a different perspective. I do think we won’t go back.”

Twitter employees have been working from home since early March. The company’s offices will not reopen before September, with a few exceptions. After getting back to normal work, Twitter will keep protection measures and prevent employees from business trips.

The Twitter spokesperson commented:

“Opening offices will be our decision. When and if our employees come back, will be theirs.”

As Twitter has explained, its employees can work from home “forever” as remote working has proved to be efficient. Therefore, it’s up to the staff to decide how they will work after the pandemic ends. Twitter offices will be anyway “warm and welcoming”.

Other tech giants like Facebook Inc (NASDAQ: FB), Google Inc (NASDAQ: GOOGL) (NASDAQ: GOOG), Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ: AMZN), Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ: MSFT) have also implemented work from home measure to protect their employees. For instance, most of Google employees will work from home until the end of this year. Only some of them will return in the early summer. Facebook will reopen its offices after the July 4 weekend, but its staff can also work from home until 2021.

Twitter to Fight COVID-19 Misinformation

Recently, Twitter launched add labels and warning messages to prevent spreading misleading information about coronavirus. In March, the company started to fight misinformation reflected in Tweets and now is updating its policy.

New labels will now appear on Tweets containing potentially harmful, misleading information related to COVID-19. According to the company’s blog post, the labels will link to a Twitter-curated page or external trusted source with additional information on the claims made within the Tweet.

The new labels are already available in about 40 languages.
