Payment service provider PayStand released new bitcoin e-commerce plugin for WordPress merchants.

California-based payment service company PayStand released new free payment option for bitcoin purchases. New plugin, available on WooCommerce, will allow WordPress users to accept bitcoin. The company became one of the latest digital currency payment processors that integrated with WooCommerce that is a popular way for WordPress users to accept payments.

In an interview to CoinDesk, Jeremy Almond, PayStand CEO, told that the new offering is an attractive opportunity for WordPress merchants who started using cryptocurrency.

PayStand also allows users to accept credit cards and e-checks, offering a one-stop solution for online payments.

Describing the firm’s service, Almond told: “Our process is very simple, one click of a button you can install the product, so it’s not very complicated, you don’t need developers to do it, you can have credit card processing right next to it. You can turn it on and turn it off, it’s very easy to use.”

Almond also told CoinDesk: “Cards aren’t going away tomorrow. […] We can go to a WordPress merchant and say, ‘Here’s an offering where you can still take cards and electronic checks, but you can offer something that is free for transactions.’ [Bitcoin is] global and it solves a lot of problems around payments.”

The new option is not the only development involving WordPress over the last time. Thus, in November 2012, WordPress announced that it will enable customers to purchase upgrades with the use of BitPay.

Almond added that the new WooCommerce plugin tool will appeal to new developers, as well as for the established business owners that want to incorporate bitcoin payment option into their websites.

He also said: “Our process is very simple, one click of a button you can install the product, so it’s not very complicated, you don’t need developers to do it, you can have credit card processing right next to it. You can turn it on and turn it off, it’s very easy to use.”

He noted that established developers will be able to utilize PayStand’s API to create extensive and unique solutions.

He continued: “Our business ultimately wants to see bitcoin thrive, so going places like WordPress and other mainstream areas where we can continue to get your everyday merchant aware and able to take payments and that’s a key goal for us.”

Providing multiple payment solutions, PayStand aims at serving a bridge between new and emerging payment types. Although Almond did not provide exact figures, he is pleased with the number of PayStand merchants so far.

He said: “Our goal is to build a bridge from traditional to next-generation payments, and I think our strategy is working for our merchants.”
