Send Altcoins to Any Bitcoin Address Using Browser Extention ShapeShift Lens

ShapeShift has released Chrome’s browser extention that lets users automatically pay to any Bitcoin address with the altcoin of their choice.

ShapeShift, a cryptocurrency vending website, has recently launched a new service focused particularly at simplifying payments across various currencies.

According to the information on the company’s website, is the world’s fastest, most trusted service for instantly converting between cryptocurrencies.

The new feature is called ShapeShift Lens. The browser plugin allows users to pay Bitcoin address or invoice, including those from such merchants as Amazon or Overstock, with Litecoin, Peercoin, Dogecoin in addition to a selection of the most popular altcoins currently on the market.

One can use the Lens to pay any Bitcoin address with an altcoin and ShapeShift Lens will automatically convert altcoin and make the payment. Once a user installs the Lens extension, he/she will see a small ShapeShift fox icon appeared next to Bitcoin addresses on webpages he/she visits. One should click on that icon to use Lens to pay that Bitcoin address with an altcoin of choice.

“ShapeShift Lens supports all the coins that are available on This now includes Litecoin, Peercoin, Dogecoin, Darkcoin, Blackcoin, Feathercoin, and Namecoin,”said Beorn Gonthier, the Founder and CEO of ShapeShift, in an interview to CoinTelegraph.

“We will keep adding coins so Lens will become increasingly universal. The goal here is to unify all the coins, so that a Bitcoin address can be paid with any popular altcoin. Every Bitcoin merchant is now an altcoin merchant without even knowing it. This is some of the cool magic that is afforded by cryptocurrency,” he added.

ShapeShift Lens is currently available on Google Chrome Webstore. The tool in-line with its parent service, does not require an account for any of its features to be used.

However, according to Mr. Gonthier, apart from Google Chrome, Firefox will be available for ShapeShift Lens very soon and more than likely they won’t support other browsers than those two in the short term.

Regarding the security issues, Beorn Gonthier states that customers should not worry as the service doesn’t hold customer’s money for more than a few moments while the transaction is processing.

“We keep things simple and efficient. ShapeShift does one thing and one thing only – fast, easy conversions between crypto coins.” he said.
