Coinbase, a bitcoin wallet and exchange service, has upgraded its mobile apps. The new design contains a bunch of updates.
Users of Coinbase can buy and sell bitcoin at the current market rate with a bank transfer for a fee of about 1% of the value of the transaction. Coinbase makes it easier for non-technical users to send and receive bitcoin payments by offering an online wallet service for storing, sending, and receiving bitcoins; along with merchant services that enable businesses to accept bitcoin payments online, and fee-free micropayments between Coinbase accounts.
The company has recently announced the launch of redesigned mobile applications:
“Today we’re announcing a redesigned version of our mobile apps for iOS and Android. These mobile apps have been rebuilt from the ground up, taking advantage of the latest versions of iOS and Android to create the best possible mobile wallet experience for our users.”
The renovation works for both iOS and Android. Coinbase has updated its security protocols, which is considered a wise decision taking into account the latest case happened to Bitstamp. New security updates include integration with Touch ID on iOS and integration with 1Password, a comprehensive password manager developed by AgileBits Inc, for all devices. Besides, it will be easier for users to deal with settings.
Coinbase was founded by Brian Armstrong and Fred Ehrsam in June 2012. The company has been noted for being one of the more user-friendly bitcoin exchanges, although it has been criticized for cancelled and delayed orders and unresponsive customer support.
The applications allow users to send and request money using a bitcoin address, an email address or a QR code. Users can deal with traders who accept bitcoin, besides they can see their full Coinbase account and transaction history. The updated interface includes a user’s avatar in the upper left hand corner, apart from detailed transaction data.
Another security feature is a two-factor identification, developed by Authy. The feature protects a user’s account from hackers and hijackers.
At the moment users can deal with bitcoins in a total of 19 countries, including the U.S. The company has expanded to Italy, Spain, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Austria, Cyprus, Finland, Greece, Latvia, Malta, Portugal, and Slovakia since September 2014. In addition, the application is now available in Sweden, Switzerland, Spain, Ireland, and Denmark.
