There are also speculations that the shaky start of Truth social may encourage President Trump to stick with Twitter for some time more.

Former United States President Donald Trump has made it clear that he will not be returning to Twitter even if he has his account reinstated now that Elon Musk is at the helm of affairs at the social media giant. The statement, as provided to Fox News came amidst confirmation that the bid put forth by the Tesla Inc (NASDAQ: TSLA) boss has been accepted by the Twitter board.

Trump and Twitter

That Trump will not be making his return to Twitter does not imply he will stay off social media as there are plans for him to stay on Truth Social, the alternative microblogging site he founded.

“I am not going on Twitter, I am going to stay on Truth,” Trump told Fox News. “I hope Elon buys Twitter because he’ll make improvements to it and he is a good man, but I am going to be staying on Truth. The bottom line is, no, I am not going back to Twitter.”

Truth social has launched in February, but the app has experienced a lot of challenges that have prevented prospective users from downloading and getting on board the platform. President Donald Trump was banned from Twitter and other social media back in January 2020 in connection to the last US Presidential election and the violence he allegedly stirred that led to the Capitol riot.

There has been a lot of uncertainty amongst Trump’s chief allies who believe the former President may not want to stay off Twitter for much longer now that a Free Speech narrative is being championed by Elon Musk. Suffice to add that President Trump and Elon Musk have a somewhat close relationship, at least, better than the one President Joe Biden and the tech mogul have at the moment.

There are also speculations that the shaky start of Truth social may encourage President Trump to stick with Twitter for some time more.

Democrats Fret at President Donald Trump’s Likely Return to Twitter

As reported by CNBC, the likely return of President Donald Trump is causing top Democrats to fret, maintaining the stance that the future of the midterm elections in 2022 and the 2024 Presidential elections may be jeopardized as the former president may do all within his power to regain power.

“Now, Trump will use Twitter to do far more damage to regain power in 2022 and 2024 while Elon Musk has given no indication that he will do anything to stop him,” Mary Anne Marsh, a veteran Democratic strategist, told CNBC.

That Elon Musk will be the sole administrator of Twitter which he plans to take private is not sitting well with many leaders including former President Barack Obama according to top sources familiar with the matter. It is no news that there is no trust in Elon Musk by a majority of Washington leaders, and all eyes are fixed on the deal completion to see how he would stir the affairs of the firm as a private company.
